Extra Pass Benefits for Eurail travelers in Greece

In Greece you can profit from reduced boat crossings and other benefits. The benefits can be obtained locally, or sometimes through a call centre or website of the company concerned.

Superfast Ferries / Blue Star Ferries
When your Eurail Pass is valid in Greece and Italy:

  • free ferry crossings on the Adriatic Sea from Patras and Igoumenitsa to Ancona and Bari (Italy) operated by Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries. Mid season surcharge: June and September: 10 Euro per person; High season surcharge: July and August: € 20 per person. Port taxes (7 Euro) are extra.

If your Pass doesn't include Italy:

  • 30% discount on these ferry crossings.

Some rules for using Pass benefits

Usually extra Pass benefits can be obtained locally by showing your Eurail Pass. Sometimes you can make reservations in advance through a call centre or website of the company concerned.

Travel days
If a benefit gives you free transportation, it requires the use of a travel day if you have a Eurail Pass with flexible validity. In case of an overnight ferry, you may enter the day of departure or the day of arrival in your travel calendar. If a a benefit only consists of a discount, it is not necessary to use a travel day.

Ferry crossings
For free passage on international ferry routes, your Pass must be valid for the country of departure AND the country of arrival. In case of discounted passage, your Pass must be valid for the country of departure OR the country of arrival.
