Connections

New Intercity Express trains offer high quality and speed to guests of Greece traveling between Athens and Thessaloniki. Traveling by InterCity train is always relaxing: air conditioning, a delicious meal served at your seat, a snack or a drink at the bar.

There are overnight trains connecting Athens and Thessaloniki and international trains connecting Thessaloniki and Belgrade (or Beograd in Serbian), Sofia (in Bulgaria), Budapest (in Hungary), Ljubljana (in Slovenia) and Istanbul (in Turkey).

A Rack Railroad takes you from Diakopto to Kalavrita, a historic town in the Peloponnese, on mount Helmos at an altitude of 2,343 ft ascending for 14 miles (22 km) following the steep slopes of the Vouraikos gorge.

A steam train takes you from Ano Lechonia to Milies, up the picturesque Pelion mountain in the Thessalia region.

Special trains

You can travel by train through Europe on a large variety of special trains. Examples are high-speed trains, scenic trains or night trains.
