Rhine Valley Line

For about 100 kilometers the train passes alongside the river Rhine that winds through a picturesque valley. High above the surrounding mountains numerous medieval castles and fortresses are greeting the travellers; enchanting small towns and villages alongside the river are inviting to explore their charm and to enjoy their hospitality.

Highlights are the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, the castles of Marksburg, Stahleck, Katz and Maus or the Pfalz castle on an island in the river bed. In addition - among many other places worth a visit - cities like Bacharach, St. Goar or Rüdesheim are completing the unique picture of this marvellous landscape.

Eurail Pass Holders

If your Eurail Pass is valid for Germany then you can also use it on the Rhine Valley lines, not only on DB trains but also on boats operated by Köln-Düsseldorfer Rheinschiffahrt AG (KD Rhine line). Passengers can change from train to boat or vice versa at numerous stops.
